This article is one of the further readings from the article on L1 in the classroom that Paul gave us on Friday. http://www.ittmfl.org.uk/modules/teaching/1a/paper1a4.pdf
I read it through and found it very interesting. Pro use of L1. I'd recommend reading it.

another online resource
I've found another ppt sharing site which has some relevant presentations for us: you'll have to join (free) to be able to download the presentations.
Try these: Izaham
There are several on reading skills, for example.
using Google books
Google books is a very good way to sample key texts: here's a link to Assessing Reading (Alderson, CUP) as one such example.
And here's Assessing Listening (Buck, CUP).

Underhill and Thornbury
I received a mailing from Macmillan today that pointed me to some very interesting "webinars" and archived presentations. Two are of Scott Thornbury expanding on information from the A-Z book entitled "7 Things Beginning with M" and "6 Things Beginning with R". In addition, there is an archived webinar by Adrian Underhill called "Successful Pronunciation Learning".
You can find these (and download into iTunes) here
Direct links to two archived talks:
See you tomorrow!
Laura
Thanks, Laura! I've added the link to the main page, plus direct links to the two archived talks. John
Sue Swift on Author Stream
There is a lot to choose from so today I just made a random start and watched Teaching Lexis. I can recommend it. Got some nice references and some interesting ideas.
However the PPP refers to a handout, I did a quick search about on authorstream and ELTnotebook but couldnt track it down. Anyone know where the linked handouts to these PPPs live?

I believe the extra resources (worksheets, handouts etc) referred to are available only to the course participants of the online Delta Module 1 course that she runs. To access this course, one has to be invited by e-mail (presumably after having paid!) and use the log-in details provided. John

I've added a link to a set of 50 Delta module 1 topics presented by Sue Swift: each is viewable as an online PowerPoint presentation (with sound), and some are downloadable.

Use this link to access an interactive phonemic chart at onestopenglish.
I've also added it to the Quick Links list, along with 2 or 3 new links.
You can also go to our Delta Module 1 home page on my web site: it's still being populated, but I've made a start!
I've also created a Delta folder in the Downloads folder at my web site, and have added some pdfs that you can browse/download.
